OUR STORY

The Training for Warriors (TFW) System in San Marco, Jacksonville embodies a premier TEAM fitness program that is currently used by hundreds of thousands of individuals worldwide to build muscle, loose fat and feel great! TFW was built based on optimizing the best athletes on the planet, but can be used by anyone today. At our TFW San Marco facility, we define a TEAM Warrior as anyone that is prepared to work hard in order to battle against life challenges. Our group workouts are designed to develop muscle strength and mental fortitude as well as shed unnecessary fat. We work with early morning, lunch time, late afternoon and weekend Warriors, or anyone who is looking to get back or maintain physical and mental fitness. Let us bring out the Warrior within you!

OUR WINNING STRATEGY

  • Communicate before workouts as a group to establish TEAM connections between our members

  • Recall and discuss specific TEAM member needs on areas of concern to address each individual’s general wellness

  • Establish small goals for each workout, whether it would be to increase weight on a particular exercise or reach a desired number of repetitions

  • Follow-up daily with TEAM members, discussing nutritional planning and creating an environment of encouragement and accountability

  • Be available after each workout session for counseling on training, nutrition and development of personal strategies for success

  • Communicate outside of our dojo, reminding TEAM members that they can text, call and email our coaching staff

  • Record and track on the dojo wall-board Personal Records (PR’s) to demonstrate progression and special achievement

  • Perform frequent body composition analysis of muscle, fat and water with our advanced InBody Scale System

Q: What is Training For Warriors (TFW)?

A: Training For Warriors (TFW) is a fitness program originally created for some of the best combat athletes in the world more than 15 years ago. Over that time, it was recognized that the training methods of the TFW system can benefit anyone looking to lose fat, build muscle and feel good.

 

 

Q: What exactly does it mean to be a warrior? I don’t want to train for medieval warfare.

A: We don’t like the idea of training for medieval warfare either. We define a warrior as anyone that is prepared to work hard and develop oneself in an effort to battle against his or her particular challenges in life. Our daily workouts are designed to develop the muscular strength and mental fortitude for you to take on those challenges.

 

Q: Help, I have not done an exercise program before or I have an injury!

A:  We understand you may nervous during your first few sessions with us and overcoming an injury is no easy feat. TFW has specific protocols including an extensive warm up that is meant prepare your body for the practice and greatly decrease risk of injury. And as far as your current injuries and/or limitations, the system can be easily modified by your coach. Before you take part in any practice, a TFW coach will put you through an extensive assessment to identify any limitations or muscle imbalances that can be a precursor to injury.

 

Q: What should I bring for my first session?

A: You should be dressed in clothes that are easy to move around in and wear athletic shoes.  Some students also bring gloves to get a better grip on the weights, but it is not necessary. We have towels, water and a place for you to change if needed.

 

Q: What is a typical TFW practice like?

A: The founder of Training For Warriors, Martin Rooney, prepares the TFW practices himself. They are designed to stimulate muscle, burn fat, and most importantly make students better. We describe becoming 'better' as getting stronger, decreasing body fat composition, getting motivated to eat the right things, mastering technique, increasing confidence/mental fortitude, improving posture, improving muscular and cardiovascular endurance and much more! A typical TFW practice is 45 minutes in length and depending on the day is either resistance based or a metabolic practice that we call Hurricanes!

 

Q: How fast can I should I expect to see results?

A:  The average new member on an 8 week transformation plan at TFW San Marco has shown to lose  2-3% of his/her body fat, while gaining 1-4 pounds of PURE MUSCLE.  This depends heavily on how well the meal plan is followed, training frequency, and the candidates weight.
